Position Overview: The Warehouse – Shipping Clerk is responsible for verifying and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments, while assisting in the preparations of products for shipment.
Principal Responsibilities:
· Reviews order contents and compares records, such as invoices, orders to ensure accuracy of ingoing and outgoing shipments
· Prepares documents for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
· Prepares materials for shipping utilizing branch equipment, such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter
· Records and maintains shipment data, such as weigh, charges, space availability, damage and discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and record keeping purposes
· Computes amounts, such as, space availability, shipping, storage, and demurrage charges , using a calculator or price list
· Confers with General Manager or Operations Manager to rectify shipping issues, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications
· Attends all safety meetings/trainings and adhere to OSHA and company safety policies
· Other duties as described by manager
Role Requirements:
· High school diploma or GED with 0 - 3 months of experience required
· Familiarity with door components, finishing products and assembly techniques
· Ability to use manufacturing tools/machinery (chop saw, door machine, router, nail gun, etc.)
· Willingness to learn other job functions outside the scope of this positon
· Forklift certification (depending upon branch requirements)
· Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondences, and memos
· Ability to perform basic mathematic functions
Physical Demands:
Exceptional finger and manual dexterity required to successfully perform required tasks, including the ability to frequently lift up to 85 pounds and/or pushing 100 pounds, bend, crouch, stand, and sit for long durations.
Work Environment:
The work environment requires the employee to work regularly near moving mechanical parts and to be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally is exposed to harsh outside weather conditions. This position may require the employee to use safety equipment such as, protective eyewear, earplugs, gloves, safety shoes etc. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
