Compensation: Salary range: $85,000 – $100,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
Job Summary:
The Area Group Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and optimizing daily production operations within a designated area of Trim. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are consistently achieved. The Area Group Manager will provide direct leadership to a large team, supervising 50+ employees across multiple shifts, while driving accountability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coordinate, and oversee daily operations within the assigned production area to ensure efficiency and consistency.
- Directly manage and support 50+ employees across multiple shifts, ensuring proper coverage and alignment with production goals.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Monitor and enforce quality standards, ensuring all products meet specifications and customer expectations.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members through regular feedback, performance management, and training to build a high-performing and engaged workforce.
- Plan and allocate labor resources effectively to meet production goals and adjust staffing as needed based on demand.
- Monitor equipment and process performance, partnering closely with maintenance and engineering teams to address breakdowns and implement preventive maintenance strategies.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process or production issues in a timely manner; escalate concerns when necessary and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) including uptime, throughput, efficiency, yield, and scrap rates; use data to drive improvements.
- Promote and enforce accountability on the shop floor, ensuring consistent application of company policies and procedures.
- Support onboarding and training of new hires, as well as cross-training initiatives to increase workforce flexibility.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement efforts, including Lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma initiatives, to drive operational excellence.
- Maintain clear and effective communication across shifts and departments to ensure alignment, minimize downtime, and support production flow.
- Collaborate with other departments such as Quality, Maintenance, and HR to support overall plant objectives.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- This position operates in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, as well as occasionally lift, push, or pull materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
- May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves.
- Flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed to support production demands.
