Starting Salary: $85,000 - $142,000 (depending on experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Salary
Work Environment: Hybrid (4 days in-office, 1 day remote)

Job Summary:
The IT Portfolio Manager will be responsible for governing the IT project processes and managing the IT portfolio to ensure a high level of engagement between IT and the business throughout the entire project life cycle. This position will lead a team of Project Managers to develop a comprehensive portfolio for projects that runs from initiation through post project payback evaluation to gauge effectiveness and improve delivery of services. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Define and govern the IT project requests and intake process
  • Partner with Business Relationship Managers and Business Process Consultants to develop strategic initiatives and prioritize requests
  • Coordinate with other IT teams to ensure dependencies and resourcing are managed effectively
  • Integrate risk management and change control into the portfolio governance to proactively address delivery obstacles
  • Develop standard templates and processes for estimating work, visualizing progress, and setting key milestone dates
  • Suggest methods to capacity plan, calculate ROI, and provide governance metrics
  • Build and maintain communication strategies for executive stakeholders, sponsors, and end users throughout the project life cycle
  • Ensure process alignment of IT to multiple departments, processes, and objectives
  • Manage and support a team of Project Managers within IT to meet the KPIs of the Portfolio department

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical area such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business. Equivalent training and experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 5 years of related experience working as a Program/Portfolio Manager position or in a similar position. Preference will be given to candidates with SAP experience
  • PMP Certiciation is preferred but not required
  • Previous experience with large-scale SAP/ERP implementations is required. Preference will be given to candidates with global exposure.
  • Must have strong communication skills and experience giving executive level informative style briefings. 

 

Additional Skills:

  • Excellent understanding of project implementation methodologies (waterfall ASAP, agile, etc.)
  • Strong experience with ERP related deployments and understanding of the various IT areas that impact the process. 
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty around projects, must be capable of adapting to changing principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience with applying the KISS principle (keep it simple).
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to operate under pressure with numerous tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex, cross-functional requirements and challenges.
  • Commitment to quality and achieving results that are oriented to detail and task completion. 
  • Effective teamwork skills, across different locations both geographically and technologically. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred. 

 

Physical Demands:
The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. 

Travel: This position does require travel to other Woodgrain locations, expected travel time is <20%.
