Summary: The Product Data and Merchandising Specialist owns SKU-level product data integrity and packaging/labeling compliance for the Fasteners category and serves as the primary point of coordination for customer product data delivery, planogram development, and merchandising materials within Fasteners. This role works closely with the Category Manager — Fasteners, Procurement, Sales, and Marketing to ensure product information, compliance documentation, and merchandising assets are accurate, current, and delivered in the format each stakeholder requires.

 

                Fastener Core Product Category Includes:

 

  • Nails, screws, connectors, and other fastener products – branded, non-branded and private label

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • SKU & Product Data Management –- Maintain accurate, complete product data across systems for the Fasteners category; serve as the data steward for SKU-level information used by Sales, Procurement, and the Category Manager — Fasteners.
  • Packaging & Labeling Management –- Track and manage packaging and labeling requirement changes for Fasteners products; develop and document specifications; coordinate with Procurement to ensure manufacturing partners meet packaging and labeling requirements on time and to spec.
  • Customer Data Delivery — Prepare and deliver Fasteners product/SKU data to customers in their required formats; serve as the primary point of contact for customer data requests, troubleshooting, and format changes.
  • Planogram Development — Develop customized planograms for Fasteners customers, in partnership with the Category Manager — Fasteners and Sales to ensure planograms reflect current assortment and category strategy.
  • Merchandising Materials Coordination — Coordinate the development and deployment of Fasteners merchandising materials, including signage and point-of-sale displays.
  • Marketing & Design Coordination — Partner with Marketing and design resources on the development of Fasteners marketing materials, ensuring product data and specifications are accurately reflected.
  • Conversion support – Back-up fastener team on conversion process, including item match-up, assortment review and planogram support.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership — Work closely with the Category Manager — Fasteners, Procurement, Sales, and Marketing to support category execution; escalate compliance or data issues that affect customer commitments or category performance

Education and/or Experience:                                                    

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in product data management, merchandising, or a related role — wholesale distribution, retail, or building materials industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with Fastening products a plus.
  • Experience with product information management systems, ERP product data modules, or equivalent.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong Excel skills; comfort working with large, detail-heavy datasets across many SKUs.
  • Familiarity with Adobe suite a plus
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills — this role sits at the intersection of Procurement, Category Management, Sales, and Marketing.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills; ability to manage many concurrent, deadline-driven workstreams.
