Position Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads capital projects and engineering improvements in the Towanda manufacturing plant, from concept and justification through design, installation, and startup. The role partners with plant leadership, production, and maintenance to solve equipment and process problems, and delivers projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Engineering and Design
• Identify improvement opportunities and lead root cause failure analysis on equipment and process issues.
• Develop and present corrective solutions; troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process problems.
• Work with designers on equipment layouts, specifications, and system designs; review CAD drawings and technical documents for accuracy and compliance with standards
Project Management
• Lead capital and expense projects from concept through startup and commissioning.
• Define scope, schedule, resources, and cost estimates; prepare ROI justifications for upper management.
• Manage budgets and milestones; coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
• Supervise site work and verify installations match drawings, specifications, and schedule.
Safety, Collaboration, and Strategy
• Ensure projects, contractors, and employees follow plant safety procedures, engineering codes, and regulatory requirements; identify and mitigate project risks.
• Communicate project status and risks to plant leadership and stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to maintenance and production, and contribute to long-term plant engineering strategy.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or related field).
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, including engineering design and project management.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, industrial equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Proven root cause failure analysis and corrective action experience.
• Strong project management, organization, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; CAD and project management software preferred.
• Starting compensation based on years and type of experience.
Work Environment:
Office and plant floor work in an industrial setting, including standing, walking, and working near operating equipment. Must follow all PPE and safety requirements.
