POSITION OVERVIEW
Oversees the production operations, maintains the production department budget, and acts as the liaison between Production staff and the Inside Sales group to maximize efficiency and promote team work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversees the labor and equipment requirements and production specifications using standard formulas.
- Determines standards, production and rates based on company policy, equipment and labor availability, and workload.
- Works closely with outside vendors for Huttig's production equipment; to proactively manage the maintenance schedule to include preventive maintenance for all production equipment.
- Oversees operations and accounting records or reports to determine the feasibility of attaining production estimates and to evaluate current capabilities of equipment and systems to meet estimates.
- Directs and coordinates, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with production of company product(s) utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines and equipment.
- Manages and coordinates subordinate staff in both the Production line and Inside Sales office.
- Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, or production schedules to determine production requirements.
- Reviews operations data, such as time, production, and cost records and prepares management reports.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also indirectly supervises non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE -Associates degree or five to ten years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and accounting.
OTHER SKILLS/CERTIFICATION - Must be forklift certified. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, CAD and other related software a must.
REASONING ABILITY - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
