Job Summary:
The Plant Manager provides leadership, strategic guidance, and support to the Fruitland facility. This individual works to ensure the facility is running safely, efficiently, and is increasing profitability. This individual is counted on to provide counsel on key decisions. A strong understanding of the industry, safety standards, and business acumen is key to the success of this individual.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Has ultimate responsibility for the overall safety, environmental, production, quality, delivery, cost and morale objectives for the plant.
- Ensures awareness of environmental and safety concerns in a proactive manner to ensure a safe environment for our associates and the community.
- Develops and implements Key Performance Indicators to achieve performance objectives.
- Develops and implements long range and short-term objectives, plans and programs for the plant which align with overall business objectives.
- Demonstrates business acumen to meet annual financial objectives.
- Develops and manages the plant operational budget to include both capital and expense items.
- Achieve site goals for key process indicators in the following areas:
- Safety
- Return on Net Assets (RONA)
- Productivity
- Quality
- Ship-on-time and complete
- Actively ensures training and development of assigned personnel to maximize safety, quality, and productivity across the production departments.
- Complete performance reviews, employee relations activities, and corrective action in conjunction with Human Resources in a timely and effective manner.
- Lead a culture of continuous improvement and be a champion of activities, programs, and events to drive continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant.
- Support standardization efforts of functional leaders in manufacturing and administrative processes.
- Partner with division functional leaders and site resources in areas of Sales, Planning and Scheduling, Purchasing, Transportation, Engineering, Accounting, and Human Resources to develop best practices and meet performance standards.
- Investigate and recommend new manufacturing methods, processes, machinery, equipment, or layout to increase productivity, improve quality, and reduce waste and costs.
- Travel may be required in this role approximately 10% of the time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field strongly preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience in management of production processes
- Track record of identifying and developing first- and second-level leaders and/or others promoted into higher level roles
- Experience leading engaged teams / workforce

Physical Demands:
The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. This is a full-time position. This position may require long hours and occasional weekend work.
Travel:
Travel may be required in this role approximately 10% of the time.
