Job Summary:
Production Supervisors are responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing and activities that occur within their assigned area of oversight. They detail sequence machine center operations then deploy for execution. They ensure adherence to functional best practices and provide internal customer service so that Woodgrain Millwork goals and objectives may be achieved. They oversee: the safety and cleanliness of their area, WIP handling activities and personnel, compliance with all policies and procedures, and are accountable for their area/team performance.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to meet all the essential responsibilities and perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Follows all safety rules, proper ergonomics and safety programs. Always wears the proper PPE, clothing and footwear. Adheres at all times to the Entanglement policy. Owns daily cleanliness of work area. Maintains area orderly, clean and free from hazards.
- The employee is expected to be at their workstation/area at the start of the assigned shift. On time, regular and consistent attendance is a requirement of the job.
- Quality before quantity. Demonstrates a commitment to quality in all products, processes and services. Seeks to improve. High quality at all times and does not pass on poor quality for quantity.
- Take ownership and action to remain productive at all times. Manages downtime and discretionary time effectively.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with all employees. Shows interest and enthusiasm for the job/position. Consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and the flexibility to do what is necessary to help the team accomplish its goals and objectives.
- Create excellent customer service by providing our customers with quality products on time and in the amounts ordered.
- Ensure supervised employees are properly trained to perform their job, work safely and understand processes and policies.
- Coordinate team member activities and cross-shift priorities to achieve site specific production, inventory, warehouse, and quality goals.
- Coordinate with management and Human Resources to maintain adequate staffing levels. Participate in hiring and on-boarding of new hires.
- Balance available resources with areas of need to ensure tasks are completed on time and at the lowest cost.
- Provide support and training which enables all inventory movements to be processed in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Sequence and prioritize daily production activities for all shifts under their assigned area of oversight
- Able to balance sequencing “like-type” products for maximum efficiency with the ability to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Monitors workloads versus manufacturing capacity for imbalances and escalates potential risks to appropriate stakeholders.
- Collect daily, weekly, and monthly safety, quality control, production, attendance, and training data to forward to the appropriate department.
- Continual development and implementation of operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate waste and improve quality and employee performance.
- Must have ability to work well with a wide variety of individuals both internal and external to Woodgrain Millwork.
- Actively engage in continuous improvement projects.
- Manage employee attendance according to policy, in a standard and consistent manner.
- Ensure all production equipment is kept in good repair, unsafe equipment is removed from operation, and proper maintenance is completed when necessary.
Requirements:
- High School/GED and minimum 1 year related experience.
- Proficient with computers.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work well with others in a close environment.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Travel:
This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
