Position Summary: The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for all customer sales activities in an assigned territory, with a primary focus on millwork and building materials. This role works within our sales and support teams to ensure customer satisfaction, profitable revenue growth, and long-term account success aligned with company strategy and values.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sales Growth & Territory Management
    • Meet/exceed sales goals and objectives.
    • Collaborate with Regional Sales Manager to set targets and identify opportunities.
    • Actively manage sales pipeline and opportunity development.
    • Drive sales, gross margin, and year-over-year growth.
  • Sales Process Execution
    • Prospect – Identify and onboard new customers, particularly in the millwork and building materials industry.
    • Explore – Understand customer challenges, product needs, and market trends.
    • Educate – Present Woodgrain’s millwork solutions, mouldings, doors, and building materials.
    • Propose – Develop and present customer-specific proposals focused on industry solutions.
    • Execute – Manage smooth business transitions and ongoing value delivery.
  • Account Management & Retention
    • Manage partnered, national, and committed accounts within the millwork and building materials sector.
    • Build relationships with customers at all business levels.
    • Collaborate with national accounts and the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Business & Industry Knowledge
    • Internal: Understand Woodgrain’s capabilities, millwork products, supply chain, CRM, and data.
    • External: Stay informed on local market trends, competition, supply chain conditions, and pricing within the millwork and building materials industry.
  • Organization & Communication
    • Effectively manage schedules, travel, and office time.
    • Complete all action items timely with a sense of urgency.
    • Maintain up-to-date CRM records on accounts, sales calls, and new opportunities.
    • Communicate across business functions to meet customer needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
    • At least 1 year of outside sales experience in millwork, building materials, or a related industry (internal candidates may qualify without prior sales experience).
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Competitive drive and success-oriented mindset.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Detail-oriented with strong time management.
    • Self-motivated with a professional appearance and attitude.
    • Relationship-building skills and a positive demeanor.
    • Travel required, including overnight stays.
    • Valid state driver’s license required.
