Job Summary:

 

Shipping/Receiving Clerks are responsible for accurate tracking of products from arrival at Woodgrain until departure to the customer.  They ensure system and physical inventory accuracy, properly execute inventory directives, an provide customer service both internally and externally.  They work with the Warehouse Manager to assist in communicating with the drivers. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members in contributing to facility wide production, inventory/warehouse, and quality goals.
  • Ensure proper processing of all inventory movement transactions within data management system and subsequent traveler/unit tagging.
  • Manage and communicate inventory status and change information in a timely manner.
  • Recognize when a physical location item count is needed and communicate concerns to the appropriate Inventory Control personnel.
  • Expedite rush/hot orders to maintain on time delivery.
  • Execute safe and accurate: picking and put away, stock consolidation, product identification and tagging, staging, unloading/loading of shipments, and routine maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Locate aged, slow moving, reject, rework materials and ensure they are utilized in accordance with directives provided by Warehouse department.
  • Provide support for inventory reconciliation processes, including formal physical inventory audits and cycle counts.
  • Maintain good repair of all material handling equipment and ensure proper repairs are completed when necessary.
  • Sustain a clean and orderly work environment throughout all areas of contact.
  • Actively engage in continuous improvement projects.
  • Verifies shipping documens and records any discrepancies.
  • Maintain a valid CDL

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D and equivalent college degree experience in purchasing
  • Knowledge of inventory control
  • Basic shipping and receiving knowledge
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work with others
  • Possess a valid CDL license

  • Hearing: must be able to hear clearly all verbal communication, sounds, and horns, 100% of the workday
  • Mobility: Stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and grip, feel and reach with hands and arms, stoop, twist, and bend 20% of their work schedule
  • The employee is frequently required to clearly communicate written and verbally 100% of the workday
  • The employee must be able to lift up to 50lbs occasionally, and/or up to 25lbs frequently, between ground and shoulder level during their daily work schedule
  • Moving mechanical parts, machines, and vehicles
  • The purchasing environment is small, and the employee must be able to work in close proximity with other co-workers
  • The manufacturing environment noise level is generally loud and must wear proper PPE
  • Employees are regularly exposed to drafts, fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures
