Work Environment:
Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00 am – 2:00 pm and OT as needed
Job Summary:
To maintain pressure set points and chemicals to keep the boiler steam at the correct level for drying lumber properly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and adjust dust feed and air flow settings
- Maintain boiler log hourly
- Monitor and adjust chemical levels
- Empty ash barrels and trash cans using a forklift
- Shovel sawdust under silo to keep a clean area
- Dumps silo sawdust and switch trailers out
- Assist with monitoring the kiln temperatures
Requirements:
- Ability to work independently
- Basic mechanical skills
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Previous boiler experience a plus
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally, and/or up to 25 lbs frequently
- Regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms
- Regular bending, stooping, stretching, twisting, and turning
- Frequently required to stand (up to 10 hours) and walk
- Noise level is usually moderate
- Exposure to head and cold extremes at times
- Exposure to potentially hazardous production areas (heavy equipment traffic, slip/trip hazards, airborne dust/debris, etc)
