Starting Salary: $18.00

Employment Type: Hourly FT

Work Environment: Monday-Friday 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm

 

Job Summary:

The Moulder Assistant Operator partners with the Moulder Operator to improve the efficiency of change overs by performing the tear down and setup processes of the Moulder. Once the Moulder is staged, they will perform other responsibilities to support the safe and efficient operation of the machine such as feeding, clean up, stacking, and grading. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Limited machine setup and changeover of the Moulder Machine for daily operation including basic jointing and machine controls.
  • Read drawings to determine which setup is needed on the Moulder.  
  • Work efficiently to streamline work processes and reduce downtime.  
  • Maintain an understanding of potential defects and grading issues. Perform periodic quality checks and complete associated documentation. 
  • Perform additional responsibilities such as bundling, feeding, cleaning, stacking, and grading. Perform the role of Moulder Operator as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Strong mechanical abilities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities.
  • Must be self-driven.
  • Ability to read digital calipers and tape measure.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds.

Travel:

This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
