Job Summary:
Facilitates the production of wood moulding by preparing/setting up moulder machine(s) and moulding line(s) for daily operations or pattern changes as required by work orders. Ensures the proper and efficient functioning of moulding machine(s).Safety (strictly enforced). Mandatory attendance of all assigned safety training and adherence to all
- Sets up moulder for daily operation and change-overs including changing/adjusting heads, jointing, saws, plates, machine controls, and bar code machines as needed.
- Performs change-overs from front to back securing all items needed (saws, heads, dollies, etc.) for accurate set-ups.
- Independently performs and records preventative maintenance tasks.
- Trouble shoots moulder line equipment problems.
- Clears machine jams as needed.
- Fixes snipes, waves, and nicks in product as needed.
- Properly uses and maintains tools, calipers, and other equipment as required to perform job.
- Complies with company operating procedures, safety policies, OSHA guidelines and established performance standards.
- Trains new crewmembers in set-up and moulder operating procedures, safety policies and practices.
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be required or assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Education and Continuous Training:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Prior production (Moulder) experience
- Readable handwriting (a plus)
- Accuracy
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
