Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Schedule may include overtime or off-shift work based on plant needs and project requirements

Position Summary

The Fabricator / Welder is a key member of the maintenance team responsible for supporting plant operations through fabrication, welding, installation, repair work, and general maintenance activities. This role ensures equipment, structures, and systems are maintained safely and efficiently while supporting plant improvement projects and daily maintenance needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fabricate parts, components, and structures to support maintenance repairs and operational needs.
  • Perform welding and cutting using various processes (MIG, TIG, stick, or other methods as required).
  • Install fabricated components, machinery modifications, and structural supports.
  • Perform maintenance technician duties including troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems.
  • Assist with preventative and corrective maintenance activities to ensure reliable equipment performance.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and support repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work instructions to complete projects accurately.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians and leadership on plant improvement projects and upgrades.
  • Maintain welding equipment, maintenance tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Follow all safety policies, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
  • Support emergency repairs and respond to maintenance calls as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or welding certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in welding and metal fabrication in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing industrial maintenance or maintenance technician tasks preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools accurately.
  • Strong knowledge of welding safety standards and maintenance best practices.
  • Basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and working in varied plant environments.
  • Ability to work in hot, noisy, or confined areas as needed.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE including welding gear, respirators, and safety footwear.
