Compensation: Starting minimum hourly pay is $23.85 an hour, depends on experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Direct and coordinate the global movement, storage, or processing of inventory to limit costs and improve accuracy.  Prepare customs documentation and ensure that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with providing steamship routing to vendors, address invoicing discrepancies to contract
  • Execute comprehensive examination of import documentation including commercial invoices, international bill of ladings, and related shipping documents to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Oversee and track ISF filings are filed timely
  • Work directly with outside broker until entry processing is done in-house
  • Prepare and submit required reports to meet established guidelines and time-frames
  • Act as point of contact for Import activity (as assigned)
  • Prepare and submit required documentation and forms to US Customs within defined deadlines
  • Maintain comprehensive import reporting system showing up to date status of all shipments
  • Communicate all process exceptions to management
  • Proactively identify process improvements, money saving options and communicate to management
  • Participate in meetings with supply chain and sales to plan and prioritize shipping schedules
  • Perform continuous improvement of processes and documentation relating to import procedures and controls
  • Advise company about custom compliance policies and procedures
  • Understand HTS classification determinations- send off for bind ruling request
  • Provide logistics assistance as needed for domestic moves
  • Handle record-keeping of all import documented transactions for compliance purposes
  • Propose & implement logistics metrics
  •  Oversee delivery of shipments from origin to destination
  • Monitor ocean freight costs, demurrage fees, miscellaneous fees
  • Familiarity with Commercial Documents including documentation requirements, review of data, and payment processing
  • Operational Experience (Direct or Indirect) with customs, steamship line and port/terminal release processes
  • Experience dealing with Drayage Carriers, Brokers and Freight Forwarders
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to changes

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE — Bachelor’s Degree combined with 3 to 5 years related industry experience and/or training.  Must have global supply chain experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS — Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS — Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. The ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

OTHER SKILLS/CERTIFICATION — Microsoft Suite—Word, Outlook, Excel (Intermediate and Advanced). Trend knowledge a plus but not required. TMS/WMS, SAP MIC-GTM system experience a plus.

 

REASONING ABILITY — Ability to define problems; collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While the noise level in the office is minimal, work in the shop and warehouse may require safety equipment such as earplugs, eye protection, etc.
