Job Summary:
The IT SAP Variant Configurator (VC) Analyst is responsible for developing the creation and maintenance of the model structures for Woodgrain Product. This include the system development, project management, and maintain product options for business users. This position confers with personnel of organizational units to analyze current procedures and work to identify the problem by learning the specific input and outputs required. The SAP Variant Configuration Analyst is responsible for developing the research, creation, and maintenance of the model structures with related logic structure and rule types, Item Master data, databases related to ECN's for creating/changing BOM and routings, BOMs and configuration solutions for custom or special engineered product requests
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed description of user needs, program functions, and the steps required to modify computer programs to support needs
- Review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program change is possible within existing system
- Maintain existing product knowledge using tools provided within current systems; will also be expected to maintain a high level of proficiency to add knowledge
- Study exiting information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develops new processes to improve production or workflow as required
- Prepare workflow charts/diagrams to specify in detail operations to be performed by equipment and computer programs
- Prepare and disseminate technical reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals as documentation of systems implementations
- Provide technical expertise in the SAP module of Variant Configuration.
- Translate business requirements into functional design for VC.
- Identify, document, highlight and escalate issues related to VC.
- Develop / manage detailed configuration and testing of the system to meet functional business requirements
- Responsible for the technical design, construction, testing and delivery of the system based on functional business requirements
- Mentor other consultants in SAP VC configuration settings.
- Prepare training materials and conduct project team training and/or end-user training.
- Perform post-implementation support or knowledge transfer activities as necessary in projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical areas such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering. Equivalent training and experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
- At least 5 years of SAP related experience in Variant Configuration
- Functional understanding of SAP Variant Configuration software, best practices, and relevant cross-functional knowledge of SD, MM, PP, FI/CO SAP modules and the integration points with VC
- Strong understanding of defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
- Solid hands-on experience with architecting, configuration, deployment, and testing of SAP based enterprise software applications
- Must be able to communicate with business users to evaluate needs and translate back into the system to evaluate product offering possibilities
- Understanding of all aspects of a variant configuration product model including classes, characteristics, configuration profiles, ALE, tables, variant pricing, functions, dependency nets with constraints, BOM class nodes, preconditions, selection conditions, procedures, complex super bills of material and routings and work centers
- Experience with Engineered to Order (ETO) processes, MTO / MTS set up, Order BOM and Engineering Change Management (ECM)

- Ability to work effectively and independently on assigned projects with minimal supervision
- Commitment to a strong work ethic and coordinating within a rapidly changing environment and handling unexpected solutions
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.

The physical demands and work environment for this role align with those of a standard office setting. While performing job duties, the employee may occasionally need to stand, walk, sit, use hands for handling objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as well as talk and hear. This role may occasionally require lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
Travel:
This position may require travel to other Woodgrain locations, expected travel time is <5%.
