This position supports all hourly Distribution team members by focusing on the team member experience and acting as the first point of contact for the HR team.

·          Facilitate a supportive work environment and an engaged workforce consistent with the Woodgrain values and culture

·          Works with managers and team members primarily as a coach, not a cop

·          Collaborate with leaders/managers and team members and to assist in resolving workplace issues

·          Maintains a thorough working understanding of applicable human resources related laws, regulations and policies

·          Enter new hire onboarding documents

·          Maintain accurate Team Members files

·          Manage unemployment claims for their respective area

·          Partner with leaders on new HR processes; Train managers on systems or protocols that promote HR strategy (recruit, develop and retain) and ensure various Woodgrain policies and procedures are followed

·          Serve as a resource on human resource policies and processes

·          Implement protocols and best practices, ensuring that Woodgrain policies, practices and programs are met; recommend new policies or changes to existing policies

·          Evaluate and respond to human resource issues, and when appropriate consult with HR team members

·          Collaboratively supports other HR team members

·          Initiate and maintain HR programs and services (recognition program, team events, monthly safety training)

·          Function as a communication liaison; identify and share departmental issues, concerns, and needs with the HR team

·          Act as a resource for HR information

·          Assist with preparation of open enrollment materials and organize meetings

·          Other duties as assigned

·      High School Diploma is required, bachelor’s in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

·      Minimum of 2 years Human Resources experience.

 Some knowledge of employment-related labors laws and regulations.

·      Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·      Excellent interpersonal skills.

·      Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

·      Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

·      Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate.

·      Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

·      Ability to generate trust, avoid hidden agendas, be honest and accountable, maintain confidentiality, and behave ethically.

·      Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

·      Some experience with HRIS and talent management systems.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Required to stand, walk, sit and hear.  Able to use hands and fingers on a (computer) keyboard and other office equipment. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.
