PRIMARY ROLE

Position Summary

 

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for providing leadership and functional expertise in human resources to Huttig Team in ATL DC.   This position focuses on meeting business performance objectives through effective HR planning, development, coaching, recruiting and problem solving.

JOB EXPECTATIONS

Main Responsibilities Essential Tasks

 

  • Run a paperless HR function. Look for automated HR solutions.
  • Perform HR duties and responsibilities in a safe manner while leading by example.
  • Manage the division’s recruiting team. Know how to recruit, select, and onboard new team members. Support the team at all times.
  • Develop, design and administer HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal employment laws.
  • Consult with and mentor managers on employee relations issues.  Assure appropriate corrective actions are consistently administered. 
  • Support and train new HR or recruiting hires.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in bi-weekly payroll including timesheets.
  • Maintain data and reports for division leaders.
  • Update and maintain spreadsheets for management to understand labor cost, department needs, and upcoming projects.
  • Communicate and perform all disciplinary actions and terminations of team members.
  • Prepare or maintain documentation related to team member personnel files, separation notices, DOL hearing responses, or garnishments.
  •  Assist Director HR as needed.

Education and Experience

Knowledge

Skills and Abilities

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resource management or a related field
  • 2+ years Human Resource manager experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Experience with SAP and SharePoint preferred
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and presentation skills
  • Previous experience in a Manufacturing environment preferred
  • Critical Thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.

  • Office/manufacturing facility – climate-controlled office; dirt/dust temperature fluctuation when in manufacturing environment.
  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Willing to travel (15% of time).
