Job Summary:
This position provides leadership and guidance to the Logyard department at the La Grande facility. This individual will work to ensure the logard is running safely, efficiently and is increasing profitability. This individual will be counted on to provide counsel on key decisions related to the La Grande facility. A strong understanding of the industry, safety standards, and business acumen is key to the success of this individual. This position has authority to effectively recommend hiring and firing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leading the overall safety, quality, and morale objectives of the Logyard Department.
- Assist the Plant Manager with developing and implementing long range and short-term objectives, plans and programs for the Plant which align with overall business objectives.
- Lead a culture of continuous improvement and be a champion of activities, programs and events to drive continuous improvement efforts throughout the Plant.
- Facilitate daily tailgate meetings to address conditions, trends, and important daily activities affecting the quality issues and other business needs.
- Delegate resources to ensure productivity and quality.
- Provide for the optimum utilization of personnel by driving cross-training efforts and covering employees on leave.
- Actively ensure training and development of assigned personnel to maximize safety, quality and productivity across the production departments.
- Must be available to work in a production-manufacturing environment.
- Support awareness of environmental and safety concerns in a proactive manner to ensure a safe environment for our associates and community.
- Monitor and approve employee’s timesheets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma ,GED
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing process.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with all levels of an organization.
- Ability to relate and positively interact with team members.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to think critically; considering the big picture of operation.
- Detail oriented and work accuracy focus.
