Summary: The retail outside sales representative is responsible for all customer sales activities in an assigned territory for our retail Big Box customers. The sales representative works within the sales and support teams for the achievement of customer satisfaction, profitable revenue generation, and long-term account goals which align with company strategy, vision, and values.
Primary Customer Focus: The outside sales representative will primarily be focused on the big box retail segment, i.e. Home Depot and Lowes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Meet and/or exceed sales goals and objectives for assigned territory.
- Collaborate with Regional Sales Manager to establish targets, goals, and most efficient schedule.
- Meet / exceed quota for sales, gross margin, and YoY growth.
- Customer engagement
- Sets regularly scheduled training courses for all locations and for all locations new employees.
- Features and benefits of products and services available within the market.
- Product availability.
- Pricing configurator and other pricing tools for speed and accuracy of quotes.
- Ride-alongs with our manufacturer reps.
- Attending and engaging in contractor events
- Making sure all department staff is updated on product availability, new products, pricing and quoting processes, lead times, literature, and current in-store displays.
- In-store displays:
- Identifying available space within the store for displays.
- Following correct process to get displays approved, ordered, and set up.
- Keeping displays clean, presentable, and current.
- Pro desk and Pro sales team:
- Checking in with pro sales team on current opportunities and current projects.
- Keeping them updated on product availability, new products, pricing and quoting processes, lead times, literature, and current in-store displays.
- In the field ride-alongs calling on home builders and contractors.
- Checking in with pro sales team sales manager and other leaders within the market.
- Work with store associates to follow up on any service/warranty issues.
- Sets regularly scheduled training courses for all locations and for all locations new employees.
- In-store service for partnered locations where Woodgrain is stocking supplier.
- Establish and maintain operational standards for assigned locations.
- Utilize digital platforms to score locations on their completeness of projects.
- Identify high volume stores and suggest service frequency changes.
- Reviewing accuracy of planograms (stock) & completeness of SOS kiosk for entry and interior door programs
- Dust SOS kiosk, replenish catalog displays as needed.
- Remove excess packaging material and staples from stocked retail units.
- Exhibit thorough understanding of the business – both internally and externally.
- Internally:
- Woodgrain capabilities, processes, products, supply chain, data, pricing, CRM, etc.
- Externally:
- Global supply chain, local market trends and conditions, supply partners, competition, market pricing, etc.
- Internally:
- Organization, prioritization, and communication.
- Sets an effective and efficient schedule for meetings, travel, and office time.
- Completes all action items in a timely manner.
- Response times are quick and show a sense of urgency.
- Takes time for self and professional development.
- Allocates appropriate time to prepare for sales calls.
- Allocates appropriate time for completing action items from sales calls.
- Keeps all new business opportunities updated in CRM.
- Keeps all account information and sales calls updated in CRM.
- Communicates well across all business functions to satisfy customer needs.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not a prerequisite. Outside sales experience of at least 1 year, unless currently in another role within our organization.
Other Skills and Abilities:
The sales representative must have a competitive attitude and desire to succeed. Candidate should have above average skills in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. They should have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Attention to detail a must. Outside sales reps must have time management skills, be self-motivated, be able to build relationships, and always maintain a positive attitude. Customer facing roles require maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public. Position requires significant travel with overnight stay.
