Starting Salary: $55,000 - $75,000

The HR Generalist is responsible for performing human resources-related duties on a professional level under the direction of the HR Manager. These duties include administering human resources policies, procedures and programs, as well as performing any other day-to-day operations of the human resources office. The HR Generalist works closely with the HR Director to support operating sites. The carrying out of responsibilities in the following functional areas is expected: benefits administration, employee relations, training & development, compensation, performance management, policy implementation, onboarding, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance. The HR Generalist leads human resources practices and objectives in a way which exemplifies the company values of Integrity, Safety, Servant Leadership, Respect for People, and Customer Focus.
Duties & Responsibilities:
HR KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE

- Counsel with site management and advise on issues as a trusted HR business partner
- Under direction from the HR Manager, participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems
- Improve efficiency of department and services performed
- Plan, develop, and coordinate the implementation of training programs
- Fulfill HR Manager duties as assigned. Assignments may include:

- Recruiting
- Coordinate retention and succession planning efforts
- Building and/or enhancing company culture
- Coordinating and/or developing rewards programs

HR COMMUNICATIONS

- Communicate with area personnel, associates, and management with high professionalism and confidentiality
- Assist in employee relations issues. Counsel associates and managers concerning job related matters
- Coordinate recruitment efforts for exempt and nonexempt personnel, as well as temporary employees. Includes updating job descriptions and job postings, screening candidates, interviewing, selection and on-boarding.
- Conduct New Hire Orientations and ensure all employment documents are current and complete.
- Perform benefits administration including claims resolution, change reporting, and communicating benefits information to employees.
- Monitor the performance appraisal process, including counseling managers and supervisors on the program.
HR ADMINISTRATION

- Effectively administer human resources policies, procedures, and plans.
- Administer the compensation program for employees and conduct timely payroll processing.
- Maintain company organization charts and the employee directory.
- Oversee accurate Human Resources Information System (HRIS) records and compile reports. Conduct Internal HR audits.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
- Prepare termination and severance letters. Assist in exit interviews.
- Manage Return-to-Work (RTW) cases and details.
Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 1-2 years HR experience OR Master’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 1 year HR experience OR Equivelant combination of education and experience.
- Human Resources certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred.
- Highest level of professional conduct, integrity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in office computer applications.
- Ability to motivate and positively influence others.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to make effective presentations on controversial/complex topics to employees, management, and public groups.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or concerns.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
