Starting Salary: $20.00($19.00 + $1.00 shift differential)

Employment Type: Hourly Full Time

Work Environment: Monday – Friday 11:00 pm – 7:00 am with overtime including extended hours and Saturday as needed.

 

Job Summary:

This position involves grading and ripping lumber to obtain the highest possible yield.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Setup the rip-scan to ensure lumber is graded.
  • Ensure that the correct lumber is being processed.
  • Perform frequent quality checks.
  • Issuing lumber tags in SAP.
  • Adjust the saw to obtain proper width/quality changing over to a different thickness.
  • Perform all required maintenance as needed.
  • Train others to operate the ripsaw in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assist in other areas.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Strong mechanical abilities
  • Basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to handle both stress and pressure.
  • Ability to make quick and accurate decisions.

Physical Demands: The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.

 

 

Travel: This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
