Job Summary:
The Fingerjoint Operator is responsible for the safety and efficient performance of a Fingerjointer cell. This involves providing leadership and training to those who work on the Fingerjointer, performing changeovers, maintaining the Fingerjointer, performing quality checks, and making sure that productivity quotas are achieved.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Train the crew to work safely and maintain a positive safety culture within the work center.
- Perform sliver samples to ensure a quality product is produced.
- Achieve daily output expectations.
- Review the schedule for orders and machine settings.
- Perform transactions in SAP and tag finished units.
- Train new Fingerjoint employees.
- Complete TPM and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to provide coaching, training, and guidance to a team of 2-3 employees.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read a measuring tape.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Travel:
This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
