Work Environment: Monday – Friday from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm

 

Job Summary:

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for planning layout, installation, and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. Measures, cuts, bends treads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps. Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Installs control and disruption apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric motor and installs grounding leads.
  • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as programmable controllers.
  • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Repair faulty equipment or systems.

 

Requirements:

  • Idaho Journeyman license
  • 3+ years of electrical experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl ; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.

This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
