Starting Salary: $70,000 to $100,000 (depending on experience)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Salary

Work Environment: In-Person, Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm

Job Summary:
The Corporate Environmental Manager is responsible for providing strategic oversight, guidance, and administration of environmental programs across all divisions. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, supports major projects and expansions, and provides expert direction to division environmental representatives. The Corporate Environmental Manager serves as the central liaison with regulatory agencies and leads initiatives to maintain environmental excellence aligned with Woodgrain’s mission, vision, and values. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build, standardize, and maintain environmental processes to ensure compliance with evolving regulations (e.g., PFAS, Oregon DOE standards, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations).
  • Lead environmental planning and strategy for expansions and major projects, ensuring regulatory requirements are addressed proactively (e.g., Emmett Dryer Project).
  • Develop corrective action plans and provide solutions when sites are not meeting regulatory benchmarks.
  • Manage all aspects of regulatory permits, including renewals, modifications, and terminations, ensuring documentation and compliance.
  • Write, review, and validate operational management and monitoring plans for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct compliance audits for permits and internal environmental programs to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Act as the primary corporate liaison with environmental regulatory agencies, representing the company’s interests professionally and proactively.
  • Provide expert support, guidance, and training to division environmental teams, fostering consistency and compliance across all operations.
  • Stay current with environmental trends, regulations, and industry best practices to advise leadership and support business initiatives.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental compliance or management experience, in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • At least 3 years of experience managing environmental regulatory programs, permits, and compliance audits
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including PFAS, air, water, and waster requirements

  • Effective time management and organization skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.   

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, excluding company holidays, with working hours that may vary based on departmental needs.

 

Travel: 

This position does require travel to other Woodgrain locations, expected travel time is 20%.
