Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of a distribution service center to obtain         optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Daily activities for shipping, receiving, and loading departments.
  • Hiring, coaching, teaching and training of new and present facility personnel.
  • Responsible for all safety meetings at the facility.
  • Ensuring that safety rules and policies are followed by all employees.
  • Coordinates distribution and warehousing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Reviews distribution costs and product quality programs to maximize service center profitability.
  • Performance evaluation and increases for facility personnel.
  • Total responsibility for the warehouse profit and loss statement.
  • Setting productivity goals for warehouse employees and meeting those goals.
  • Ensuring that the product received and shipped meet or exceed customer expectation.
  • LEAN programs within facility.
  • Creation of capital expenditure requests and costs justifications for these expenditures.
  • Evaluating and scheduling daily work assignments
  • Prepares Annual Distribution Center budget
  • Master of SAP Warehouse Management and Transportation Systems
  • Purchasing and maintenance of warehouse equipment and supplies
  • Develop goals and objectives for the operations department.
  • Responsible for the security of the location
  • Manages and maintains a balanced organization possessing flexibility,

                      technical skills, and long range skill requirements.  Develops and maintains

                      a professional staff through selection, training, development, compensation,

                      and motivation.

  • Directs immediate subordinates in the management of their assigned responsibilities to ensure operational and performance objectives are consistently met according to established policies.
  • Other duties as requested by management.

 

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                  

 

Manages up to three subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 6 to 65 employees in shipping, receiving, and inventory control.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience                                                  

 

Bachelor's degree (B. A., B.S.), with concentration in logistics, from four-year college or university; and five years (5) related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Lean or Six Sigma experience is beneficial.

 

Language Skills                                                  

 

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to speak Spanish is required.

 

Mathematical Skills                                            

 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability                                               

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Other Skills and Abilities                                              

 

Proficient in MS Office (Advanced Excel to include pivot tables, Word, and PowerPoint).

Strong leadership and communication skills.
