Summary:  The Fastener Specialist drives profitable growth by identifying and developing new business opportunities, expanding existing accounts, and enabling the sales team through training and joint selling. This role blends market strategy with hands-on execution, ensuring alignment across sales, pricing, product, and supply chain to win in targeted segments

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Business Development and Account Growth

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities across target markets and segments.
  • Build and manage an opportunity pipeline, ensuring timely follow-up and progression toward closing, following the Woodgrain Sales Process.
  • Work closely with sales leadership to develop territory strategies that align with company growth goals.
  • Expand wallet share with current Fastener Specialty Distributor accounts.
  • Prospect and open new Fastener Specialty Distributor accounts.
  • Outbound phone calls to grow share on commodity opportunities.

 

Sales Enablement and Training

  • Develop and deliver product, sales, and market training for sales representatives and customers.
  • Coach and mentor sales reps on best practices for prospecting, closing, and account growth.
  • Lead joint sales calls with reps to model effective sales techniques and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Partner with marketing and the Fastener Product Manager to develop promotional campaigns, product launches, and customer events.
  • Coordinate and represent the company at trade shows, open houses, and customer appreciation events.

 

Pipeline Management and Performance Management

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date pipeline of opportunities in CRM.
  • Analyze pipeline metrics to identify gaps and areas of focus.
  • Collaborate with sales reps to develop action plans for advancing stalled opportunities.

 

 

 

 

Category Strategy

  • Monitor market pricing and recommend adjustments to maintain competitive positioning.
  • Evaluate current product assortment to ensure competitive positioning and market relevance.
  • Work with internal teams to develop, launch, and promote new product lines.
  • Monitor sales performance by product category to inform assortment adjustments.
  • Work closely with supply chain to ensure proper forecasting and safety stock

Travel

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business related field is preferred with at least 2 years of management related experience. If being promoted from within our organization, previous management experience is not required.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:

The BDM must have a competitive attitude and desire to succeed. The employee should be skilled at Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. They should have the ability to prioritize daily workflow, multitask and meet deadlines. They should have accuracy, discretion, excellent communication skills both oral and written, and attention to detail a must. The Sales Manager must have time management skills, be self-motivated, able to build relationships, and maintain a positive attitude at all times. Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public. This position requires significant travel with overnight stays. This requires the possession of a valid state driver’s license.

 

Supervisory Requirements:

This position does not manage or supervise.
