The Buyer II - Fasteners is responsible for strategic inventory optimization, including determining the ideal SKU mix, sales forecasting, and safety stock parameters across all stocking branches.

1.  Inventory and Financial Health

  • Inventory Optimization: Achieve optimal inventory levels to support sales without excessive carrying costs. The expectation is to reduce obsolete inventory and minimize out-of-stocks.
  • Forecasting Accuracy: Implement and manage robust forecasting processes to continuously improve accuracy for key SKUs, directly impacting purchase planning.
  • Working Capital Management: Meet targets for inventory turnover and days of supply (DOS), effectively managing the company's investment in fasteners.
  • Gross Margin Contribution: Ensure the category's product mix and pricing strategy contribute positively to the overall gross margin and profitability.

2.  Cross-Functional Strategy

  • Branch Partnership: Serve as the primary inventory point-of-contact for all stocking branches. Expectations include active collaboration to understand local market needs and sales trends.
  • SKU Rationalization: Proactively manage the product lifecycle for fasteners—introducing new, profitable items and strategically phasing out low-performing or redundant SKUs.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Work with Procurement to ensure supplier performance meets standards (lead times, quality, cost) necessary to maintain inventory levels.
  • Process Improvement: Drive efficiency within the replenishment process, leveraging inventory planning systems (ERP/MRP) to automate and improve workflow.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or technical undergraduate degree with Supply Chain focus.
  • 5+ Years of Supply Chain experience with a strong buying and logistics background.
  • Exemplary multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical capability in terms of forecasting, replenishment, and MRP.
  • Strong computer/data manipulation skills.
  • High level attention to detail.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Required to stand, walk, sit and hear.  Able to use hands and fingers on a (computer) keyboard and other office equipment. Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
