JOB SUMMARY:
This position oversees saw operations. Employees are tasked with effectively and competently operating saws used to manufacture millwork products. The target is to operate the saws as efficiently as possible with minimal scrap and defects. Maintaining exceedingly tight tolerances and being able to make quick and accurate adjustments are essential. Working with other team members, both upstream and downstream, to maximize output and reduce downtime is the essence of this position. All employees are held to a standard to adhere to all safety practices and complies with all company policies including Department Employee expectations.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
•    Champion Safety. Safety is the upmost priority. Maintains a healthy work environment by following all company standards, policies, and procedures as well as those required by state and     federal law.
•    Be the expert in keeping the saws operating as efficiently as possible. 
•    Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery.
•    Monitor upstream and downstream parts to ensure they are within specification and effectively communicate with others to work out solutions for off-grade parts. 
•    Collect and record processing data and ensure operating equipment is within the optimal settings; must be able to operate within very strict parameters and follow documented settings.
•    Observe other activities on the line and work and communicate with other team members to reduce downtime and improve output. 
•    Quick and efficient moulder setup to reduce downtime during changeovers.
•    Operate with a sense of urgency and pride in fulfilling all job functions.
•    An aspiration for continuous process improvements and striving for operational excellence.
•    Must be able to learn and operate all saws and necessary equipment within the Moulder Department. 
•    Support other machine centers within the department on a rotation basis or as needed.
•    Dislodge and clear jammed materials or other items from machinery and equipment.
•    Carry out documented plans and principles of lean manufacturing and standards consistent with 5S.
•    Monitor quality and understand how to resolve various types of defects. 
•    Communicate with material handlers and production leads when materials are needed or are ready to move.
•    Ability to work safely and help others.
•    Daily data entry into the SAP system.
•    Daily 5S and housekeeping of the work area.
•    All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EDUCATION and CONTINUIOUS TRAINING:
•    High school/GED.
•    Ability to effectively communicates in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred. 
•    Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
•    Ability to work alone as well and collaborate in a team environment.
•    Effective time management and organizational skills.
•    The ability to successfully use a computer without assistance to complete assigned tasks. SAP knowledge preferred.
•    The ability to read and comprehend written instructions as required to complete assigned tasks.
•    Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
•    High level attention to detail.
•    Troubleshooting and diagnostics abilities.
•    Ability to document and track settings and parameters for operating equipment. 
•    Ability to read both slide and digital calipers, tape measure, and other types of measuring tools and data collection equipment. 
•    Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment, e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE as required by     specific jobs.
•    Continuous training in-house and external as needed.

 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•    This person is expected to perform work in the manufacturing floor/environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, 50+ two people must move. 
•    This is a full-time position. This position occasionally requires long hours and occasional weekend work.
