It 40 hours a week and includes:

Monday-Tuesday Overnight run in Colorado

Wednesday-Off

Thursday-Friday Overnight run in Southern NM

Purpose 

How does the position contribute to the success of the operation, division and company?

This role is responsible for safely and efficiently driving tractor/trailer to transport product to customers  according to company guidelines, customer requirements, and applicable law.

 

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Expectations and Performance Measures What measures or metrics will the individual be measured on and what level of performance is required?  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Operates tractor/trailer in accordance with Company Policies, DOT Guidelines, and applicable traffic laws during the day or night and in various traffic and weather conditions.
  • Conducts and documents pre-and post-trip inspections on truck and trailer.
  • Responsible for securing cargo on trailer.
  • Makes product deliveries according to proper route and schedule as indicated on the manifest.
  • At customer locations; drivers must open, close and secure trailer curtains and/or doors for  customer to unload product.
  • Ensure product accuracy and quality by scanning product tag numbers with a scanner  and visually inspecting product as it is unloaded from the trailer.
  • Obtains customer signatures on proof of delivery and submits to Dispatcher as           required.
  • Clean and sweep truck and trailer as needed.
  • Operate and maintain a Mobile Electronic On Board Recording Device.
  • Report truck, equipment, and material problems and/or damage, accidents, and  traffic violations promptly to the appropriate company officials.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
  • Attends departmental staff and safety meetings

 

Knowledge/Skills/Education and Continuous Training

What skills/certification/education must the individual have/maintain/gain?  Include any degrees, certifications, and licenses required.

 

Education / Experience / Certification

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Regional drivers - (2) years verifiable tractor trailer commercial driving experience within the past (3) years required
  • No more than (2) moving violations within the past (3) years and no more than (3) within the past (7) years
  • No DUIs within the last (7) years
  • No reckless driving, speeding 15mph and over, leaving the scene of an accident in the past (3) years
  • No at-fault DOT recordable accidents in the past (3) years
  • Current Class A CDL required
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • High level attention to detail

 

Reporting Line and Supervisory Responsibilities

 

The CDL A Drivers will report directly to the Driver Supervisor or Transportation Operations Manager

Physical Demands and Work Environment

What working conditions or physical functions are normally required to perform the essential functions of the job?

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Employee must be able to pull a 175 lbs trailer curtain open and closed at each stop as well as un-strap and re-strap to secure the remaining load. An average day will include 8 customer stops.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

All applicants must be able to obtain a new DOT certified medical card, pass a WorkWell Physical Abilities test, and pass a road test at time of hire.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
